Laundry drying, Shànghǎi, China — January 13, 2004
In those days, a wander down any back alley in Shanghai would inevitably feature housing blocks with laundry hanging from poles. Many viewed it as an eye sore, but I often felt it added color and culture to the otherwise sterial housing blocks. An important thing to do is tie down yoour clothes, otherwise they might blow away. I learned this the hard way in my apartment, but luckily my clothes were still on the ground below my unit; I simply had to wash them again.
