The Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum Mosque in Dubai is named after Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, who was the eldest son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed passed away in 2015 at the age of 33 due to a heart attack. The mosque serves as one of several memorials built in his honor.
