The National Museum building houses the largest bat population found in a human-made structure. Efforts to remove the bats proved unecological so artificial ceilings were implemented to protect the treasure in the museum from the dropping bat dung. Sunset is the best time.

This entire downtown area of Phnom Phen had remarkable similarities to the spaceport town of Mos Eisley on the planet Tatooine in Star Wars. Like that place, bizarre Food creatures, weird foods and sketchy people were all here as well.

Backpacker room at Number 9 Guesthouse — March 23, 2004

More for historical purposes and memories, but people often wonder what the level of accomodation is like for backpakcer places. I seldom took a photo of such rooms, but for some reason I took this photos, so here is what $2 to $3 a night would buy in Phnom Phen in 2004. By the way, this room did a have a view of the lake to the right. Not sure why I did not include that in this photo.
