A reunion for the Africa 1998-1999 crew, Amsterdam to Alaska is the month long journey of the Dutch from Holland, through the beautiful Canadian province of British Columbia, to Alaska. Amsterdam to Alaska is a new era in travel among the close friends of the earlier Africa expedition. In addition to reminiscing about times past, we looked towards the future, dreaming, planning and preparing for the many journeys to come. Rekindling our friendships, we found that while our personal situations had changed, our passion for travel remained unwaveringly strong. Most importantly, Amsterdam to Alaska provided us the opportunity to meet Aren Christopher, Aren and Marieke's new baby and future travel companion.

The goal of the Amsterdam to Alaska expedition was to explore the vast natural wonders of British Columbia, ending with an excursion into the Alaska wilderness. Leaving from Vancouver, we traveled through the coastal mountains of BC, into the interior of the province, then back west to the town of Kitimat. From Kitimat we continued north, entering the town of Hyder, Alaska. The journey covered nearly 5,000 kilometers yet only scratched the surface of the natural wonders to be found in British Columbia. For a detailed account of this fantastic journey we invite you to wander through the pages of the Expedition Log.
