Tents In The Morning After An Alien Free Night

Quesnel is a town rumored to be the focal point of alien activity in British Columbia. Stories abound of strange happenings, attempted abductions, and of mechanical equipment acting screwy, as if under the influence of a higher intelligence. As such, we went to sleep under an air of apprehensiveness. Our sleep was fitful and we slept lightly, ready for a UFO sighting, bovine homicide, or, god forbid, abduction with cavity probe. You can imagine our relief when dawn broke clear, and the only disturbance to our sleep was AC howling at 5 am accompanied by Roland's grumpy cursing.

Playing With The Cows

In the morning Uncle Bob showed us around the farm. We looked at his pair of nesting ospreys through the telescope then walked through his pasture to see two fledgling bald eagles. The eagles were nervous at our presence and kept a weary eye on us from their nest. As we walked through the pasture Uncle Bob introduced us to his herd of cows.

Todd And Rodney Got Along Particularly Well

Rodney, the runt of the herd, was a young calf
who enjoyed human company. Rodney followed us around and did not mind when we pet him.
Rodney had a strange interest in Todd, who was obviously not fully awake.

Uncle Bob Showing Aren the Livestock

In this picture Uncle Bob has just scolded Aren. I believe Uncle Bob's exact words were, “I don't know what you call that thing you're squeezing in Holland, but in Canada that sure ain't an udder.”

Uncle Bob's Horses

We fed the horses one last time then bid
Uncle Bob and Aunt Lorna goodbye. We
thanked them for their hospitality and their
willingness to show the city folk around the
farm. As we waved goodbye we sincerely
hoped the Dutch had left the hoof and
mouth disease back in Europe.
