Insect Storm at BP (spiders, insects, and scorpions), the Kalahari, Botswana — December 13, 1998
We encountered this insect storm after brief yet heavy rains during our drive east across the Kalahari desert. Every tan dot in this photo is an insect, and there must have been a million of them. It was nearly impossible to walk without crushing a life. However one had to be careful not to lose their life as well because mixed in with the harmless six-legged bunch were an array of scorpions and spiders. |
